Ich bin ein bisschen zwiegespalten, was dieses Kunstwerk angeht. Stimmt ja, aber wir Menschen brauchen uns nicht so aufzuführen, wir können uns anders verhalten, wenn wir wollen.

Szenen vom Kattegat … Scenes from the kattegat

Viel mit Reisen ist ja nicht bei uns in diesen Jahren, aber Vildmose, Rebild, Roldskov und in diesen heissen Tagen die Kattegatküste sind immer beliebte Ausflugsziele. Heute habe ich mal ein paar Szenen vom Kattegat für euch mit den einen oder anderen neuen Funden und Videos. Es ist wunderbar, so dicht am Wasser zu wohnen!

… We don’t have much opportunity to travel these years, but Vildmose, Rebild, Roldskov, and in these hot days the Kattegat coast are always preferred destinations for excursions. I have today some scenes from the Kattegat for you with a couple of new findings and videos. It is wonderful to live so near the sea.

Hier ein Vergleich: links im April, hätte aber genauso gut im Mai oder Juni sein können. Wenn es kalt ist, trifft man dort nur die hartgesottenen Hundebesitzer. Rechts dann im Juli vor drei Tagen bei 35 Grad Celsius. Ich habe noch nie so viele Leute dort gesehen.

Merkwürdig ist, dass sich die Badenden immer um die Brücke herum ansammeln, Wenn man weiter nach links schaut, ist dort niemand.

Gegen Ende Juni: Hier hat mein Mann sich dazu entschlossen, zu Fuss nach Schweden rüberzugehen … 😉

Das Wasser ist hier flach und wird erst ein ganzes Stück weiter draussen richtig tief. Daher ist dieser Strand gut für Familien mit kleinen Kindern geeignet.
… The water is shallow here and only gets deep far out, That is why this beach is so suitable for families with small children.

Obwohl zu dem Zeitpunkt nur ein sehr schmaler Streifen Sand vorhanden war …

Mein Mann hat sich ein Beispiel an dem Felsenfürsten in Funchal genommen und diese Insel für sein Territorium erklärt. Es handelt sich hier allerdings um eine Sandbank, die bei Flut unter Wasser ist.

Anfang Juli wurde es dann erst einmal wieder kalt.

… At the beginning of July, it got cold again for a while.

Spuren im Sand … ist das nicht ein Schlagertitel? In diesem Fall von Möwen.

An dieser Küste hängt es sowohl von der Jahreszeit als auch vom Wetter oder der Windrichtung ab, was man am Strand findet. Manchmal findet man ganz viele verschiedene Quallen, an einem Tag waren es nur Feuerquallen, verschiedene Tangsorten, und an einem Tag gegen Ende June waren es lebende Seesterne und Krabben. Das war das erste Mal in den fünf Jahren, in denen wir hier wohnen. Ein paar Seesterne lagen auf dem Sand, sahen aber noch frisch aus, so dass ich sie in eines der kleinen Wasserlöcher gesetzt habe. Die haben dort sicher überlebt, denn die Flut war einkommend.

Sometimes you find a lot of different jellyfish; on one day it was exclusively lion’s mane jellyfish, different kinds of seaweed, and on one day near the end of June we found living starfish and shrimps. That was the first time in the five years that we have lived here. Some starfish were lying on the sand, but still looked alive, so that I put them in one of the small water holes. I am sure they survived there, as the flood was incoming.

Eindrücke vom Kattegat …Impressions from the Kattegat

Lasst euch nicht durch den Sonnenschein täuschen! Letzte Woche hatten wir sommerliche 12 Grad Celsius (plus), aber jetzt sind wir wieder nach unten gerutscht auf 5 Grad mit Wind. Morgens war noch 1 Grad minus. Ausser uns war nur noch eine einzige Person unterwegs.

… Don’t let the sunshine fool you! Last week we had summerly 12 degrees Celsius (plus) here, but now we are back at 5 degrees and windy. In the morning there was still one degree minus. There was only one other person at the beach at that time.

Wirklich einer meiner Lieblingsspazierwege, abwechslungsreich und nicht weit weg von uns.

… This is really one of my favourite walks, varied and not far from home.

Dieses Mal „nur“ Landschaften, denn im Garten tut sich nichts mehr.

Doch noch einmal Østerhurup … Østerhurup again anyway

Ein typischer Herbstspaziergang und das Wasser so hoch, wie ich meine es noch nicht gesehen zu haben, und das ganz ohne Sturm oder auch nur starken Wind.

… A typical autumn walk, and the water so high, as I have never seen it before – I think – and that totally without storm or even strong wind.

Die Brückenplanken sind seit Anfang November abgebaut, aber die Pfeiler stehen noch und sind fast unter Wasser.

… The bridge’s planks have been taken down at the beginning of November, but the pillars are there and almost under water.


Auf der Sandbank hätte man sowieso nicht spazieren können.

… We would not have been able to walk on the sand bank anyway.


Wir wollten auf der Anhöhe in die eine Richtung gehen, und auf dem Rückweg am Strand entlang. Aber dafür hätten wir Gummistiefel gebraucht.

… We wanted to walk one way on top of the mound, and on the way back along the beach, but we would have needed rubber boots for that.





Dies ist die zweite Brücke, deren Pfeiler etwas höher aus dem Wasser ragen.
… This is the second bridge, the pillars of which aren’t so deep under water.

Und hier noch ein paar kleine Videos: Zuerst einer mit Kanada-Gänsen und Austernfischern, leider etwas zu weit weg; der zweite mit Austernfischern, die relativ dicht am Strand waren; und zwei Videos mit sanften Wellen.

Im Moment ist es hier eigentlich nur ungemütlich, dunkel, nass und kalt, November eben. Wir „hyggen“ uns im Haus.

… At the moment it is utterly miserable here, dark, wet and cold, typical November. We get cosy inside the house.

Jetzt im Winter will ich an den Sonnabenden gerne über unsere drei Reisen nach Madeira berichten. Ich habe nachgeschaut und meine, dass ich das bisher noch nicht getan habe. Madeira ist eine wunderschöne Insel mit netten Menschen. Fotos von der sonnigen Insel und dem herrlichen botanischen Garten wird uns über die kalte Jahreszeit bringen.
Doch jetzt wünsche ich euch erst einmal ein angenehmes Wochenende.

… During winter I plan to post about our three travels to Madeira on Saturdays. I have had a look into my posts, and it seems that I have not done so yet. Madeira is a beautiful island with kind people. Fotos from the sunny island and the beautiful botanical garden will get us over the cold season.

Windsurfer Østerhurup … very similar in English :-)

So einen hatten wir im Kattegat bisher noch nicht gesehen. Die Windsurfer sind eigentlich immer an der Westküste zu finden. Im zweiten Video überrascht er mit einem Stunt.

… We hadn’t seen any at the Kattegat yet. The windsurfers are usually to be found at the North Atlantic coast. In the second video he surprised us with a stunt.

Erst einmal ein Stimmungsbild …. But first a mood photo

Das folgende Video ist eigentlich ganz gut geworden, also wenn ihr den Computerschirm senkrecht haltet. Ich begann senkrecht zu filmen, was ich eigentlich doof finde, deshalb habe ich das Handy waagerecht gebracht. Das war aber zu spät, deshalb ist der Film jetzt waagerecht senkrecht, alles klar? Man konnte hier so schön sehen, wie er quasi auf der Sandbank schlittert und dann flog er plötzlich ganz in die Luft. Machen die das mit Absicht???

… The following video is actually not bad, if you turn your screen with the short side up, that is. I had filmed with the mobile phone vertical, which I don’t like, therefore I turned it back to horizontal. That was too late though, so the video is horizontally vertical, if you know what I mean. It is very clear to see that he actually slides on the sand bank, and then he suddenly flies up into the air entirely. Do they do that on purpose???

Jetzt knallt er gleich in die Brücke, dachte ich, aber tat er nicht.
… He will hit the bridge every second now, I thought, but he didn’t.

Wir haben seitdem keinen Windsurfer mehr dort gesehen … 😉

Østerhurup im Aprilmai … Østerhurup in Aprilmay

Am vergangenen Sonnabend war das Wetter, milde gesagt, gemischt. Am Vormittag hatten wir etwas Sonne und beeilten uns zum Strand, wo es natürlich anfing zu tröpfeln. Wir liessen uns nicht beirren und fanden heraus, dass in der Zwischenzeit sämtliche Brücken aufgebaut waren, so dass wir unseren Lieblingsrundgang endlich wieder einmal gehen konnten.

… Last Saturday the weather was changeable, to put it mildly. In the morning we had a bit of sun, so we rushed to the beach, where it started dripping. But we did want to be discouraged and went on, and we found out that in the meantime all bridges had been set up, so that we finally could go on our favourite short walk again.

Wir hatten dann Glück, dass es gerade dort, wo wir uns befanden, trocken wurde und blieb. Aber schaut mal in die Umgebung:

… We were lucky that in exactly that spot, where we were, it stopped raining and remained dry. But look at the surroundings:


So weit weg waren diese Wolken dann auch wieder nicht.

Am Nachmittag hagelte es dann, gefolgt von Sonne, gefolgt von Regensturzbächen. Den Regen konnten wir nun gut gebrauchen …

… In the afternoon we had hail showers, followed by sunshine, followed by torrential rain, which, actually, we really needed …


Die Bretter auf dem Weg hinunter zum Strand wurden mir beim Aufstieg zum Verhängnis, denn sie waren irgendwie nicht richtig befestigt. Mein Mann ging links, ich rechts, und bei einem Schritt trat er auf ein Brett, das dann auf meiner Seite hochschnellte, so dass ich darüber stolperte. Da ich nun nicht schon wieder auf die Fr… Nase fallen wollte, versuchte ich krampfhaft, mich aufzufangen. Es gelang mir, aber auf Kosten meines grossen Zehs, der zwar nicht gebrochen ist, aber arg mitgenommen und verfärbt. Der hat mein ganzes Gewicht (gar nicht so wenig) aufgefangen. Das heisst also, dass wir die nächsten beiden Wochen keine grösseren Spaziergänge und schon gar keine Wanderungen machen können.

… The boards on the way down to the beach were my undoing on the way up, because they were somehow not properly attached. My husband walked on the left side and I on the right side, and at one instant he stepped on a board which then shot up on my side so that I tripped over it. Since I didn’t want to fall on my kis… nose again, I tried hard to catch myself. I succeeded, but at the expense of my big toe, which is not broken, but badly battered and discoloured. It caught all of my weight (not that little). This means that we will not be able to take any long walks or hikes at all for the next two weeks.

Zum Abschluss gibt es noch zwei kurze Videos, eines mit wunderschönem, sauberen Wasser (nach dem Winter ist es immer besonders klar), und eines mit einem Fischreiher.

Im Sommer ist es dann nicht mehr ganz so klar.
… In summer it is usually not this crystal clear.
So ein Reiher ist schon ein imponierender Vogel. Ein Paar ist hier schon seit Jahren in dem Gebiet zwischen Sandbank und Ufer am Fischen. Abends geben sie ein Schauspiel für die Wohnmobilbewohner.
… A heron is quite an impressive bird. There has been this one pair for years in the area, fishing between the sand bank and the banks. In the evening they give a show for the camper van inhabitants.

Viel Landschaft und ein einzelnes „Blümchen im Wind“.

Der nördlichste Punkt Jütlands. Hier „stehen“ die grossen Dampfer Schlange, um in den Hafen zu kommen. Leider gibt das Bild nicht wieder, wie monumental der Anblick ist. Den muss man persönlich erleben.
… The most northern point of Jutland. Here the large ships are „standing“ in queue to get into the harbour. The picture does not really show, how monumental this sight is, one should go and look for oneself.
„Am Fluss“, Szene vom Gudenåen.
… „At the river“; scene from Gudenåen.
„Am Fluss 2“, keine schlechte Lage, nicht wahr? Obwohl in Zeiten der Überschwemmung wohl doch nicht hoch genug gelegen.
… „At the river 2“, not a bad location, is it? Although, it might not be high enough in times of flooding.
Ihr werdet euch vielleicht fragen, warum ich diese Bäume fotografiert habe. Ich finde, dass die kleine Gruppe Nadelbäume so aussieht, als ob sie a) in das Birkenwäldchen eindringt oder b) daraus hervorbricht.
… You might ask yourself, why I have taken this photo of trees. In my eyes this little group of conifers looks as if it a) is invading the copse of birches or b) is bursting out of it.
Ein bisschen Strand muss sein … tralalala
… A bit of beach is a must … (an „adapted“ German pop song, exchange „beach“ with „fun“)
Die absolut ideale Lage für „mein“ Sommerhaus: inmitten alter Bäume und nur 200 m vom Wasser entfernt (Kattegat).
… The absolutely ideal location for „my“ summer cottage: surrounded by old trees and only 200 m (656 feet, that sounds like much … ) from the waterfront (Kattegat).
Ein Klassiker: die erste Obstblüte, hier in Form einer Mirabelle, die übrigens stark duftet.
… A classic: the first fruit tree blossoms, here in the shape of a mirabelle tree, which, by the way, has a strong fragrance.

Brrrrrrrrrrr … Minus 5 Grad Celsius tagsüber. Wenn wir jetzt spazieren gehen, bin ich gekleidet wie ein Polarforscher. und nein, ich zeige euch kein Foto davon. Ich bin froh, dass wir nicht in Minnesota oder Sibirien wohnen
… Minus 5 degrees Celsius during the day. When we go for walks now, I am dressed like a polar explorer, and no, I won¨’t show you a photo. I am glad that I am not living in Minnesota or Sibiria.
o.k, Kattegat mit nur einem „t“ am Ende … bei Sonnenschein sieht das ja gar nicht übel aus.
… o.k., Kattegat has only one „t“ at the end … when the sun is shining it does not look worst.

+ 10 Grad Celsius … + 10 degrees Celsius
Ein bisschen freundlicher für die Camper … A bit friendlier weather for the campers
Das Eis muss ziemlich dick gewesen sein, wenn es nach zwei Tagen mit jeweils ´+8/+10 Grad Celsius noch nicht geschmolzen ist.
… The ice must have been rather thick, when it hasn’t thawed after two days with +8/+10 degrees Celsius.

Wir hoffen, dass der Frost jetzt erst einmal vorbei ist.

… We hope that the frost is over for now.
