Der kleine, gemütliche Ort Als. Nicht so offensichtlich touristisch wie Østerhurup (nicht missverstehen, ich liebe Østerhurup) mit Restaurant an Restaurant entlang der Hauptstrasse, sondern mit einem alten, klassischen und typisch dänischen „Kro“ (Landgasthof), in diesem Fall kombiniert mit Hotel und Restaurant. Bisher waren wir nur in Als Odde am Mariager Fjord (odde = Meerenge), aber nicht im Ort Als selbst. Das dänische Kro-System wurde von Königin Margrethe I. gefördert, die anordnete, alle 30 Kilometer einne Gasthof zu bauen, damit Reisende sich erfrischen und/oder übernachten konnten.

Hier gibt es eine Mole, die schon ziemlich vom Meer unterminiert worden ist. Das Betreten ist auf eigene Gefahr.

Das finde ich so toll in Dänemark, dass man an Stellen mit schöner Aussicht unter Garantie zumindest eine Bank, wenn nicht sogar einen Picknicktisch findet. Selbst hier, am Ende einer zerbröckelnden Mole. Hier ein Picknick im Sommer! Als ob man auf einer Insel sässe.

Das Haus ist auch nicht gerade schlecht gelegen, etwas erhöht, so dass es die nächsten drei Meter steigenden Wasserspiegel wohl noch überleben wird; die Garage allerdings nicht.

Auch hier begegnet man dem Nordseewanderweg … 😉 …Wenn die Dänen behaupten, dass man bei Skagen mit einem Fuss in der Nordsee und dem anderen in der Ostsee stehen kann, dann gehört das Kattegatt also zur Ostsee … aber das ist hier bei uns tatsächlich eine Streitfrage. Die Nordseeanhänger könnten den Tourismus an der Nordspitze verderben, wenn sie sich durchsetzten, denn mit beiden Beinen in der Nordsee stehen kann man überall an der Westküste. Die Dänen nennen die Nordsee übrigens Vesterhavet, Westmeer.

Hier ein paar Fotos von der kleinen Ortschaft. Ein ziemlich grosser Dorfteich mit einer kuscheligen gezimmerten Bank direkt über dem Wasser, ein bisschen wind- und sichtgeschützt; auf der anderen Seite des Teiches der gut gepflegte Kro.

Wir haben auch drei Schilder zu einem Campingplatz gesehen, wissen aber nicht, ob das nun drei Plätze sind oder ob die Schilder dreimal zum selben Platz hinweisen. Mal sehen, ob ich was im Internet finde. Bei Google existiert keiner. Gefunden: es gibt zwei kleinere Naturcampingplätze, ohne „übertriebenen“ Luxus, die vom lokalen Mitbürgerverein betrieben werden. Wir werden diese Plätze im Frühling inspizieren.

Google does not know of them. Found it: there are two smaller nature camping sites without „exaggerated“ luxury, which are administrated by the local citizen association. Im Mittelalter wurde ein Netzwerk von Landgasthöfen und Fährgasthöfen entwickelt. Vorher wurde die Unterbringung und Verköstigung von Reisenden oft von Klostern wahrgenommen, was aber Anlass zu Missbrauch gab (“voldgæsteri”), der auch andere Anwohner der Landstrassen rammte. Der Missbrauch bestand darin, dass Leute dazu gezwungen wurden, Reisende gegen Bezahlung unterzubringen. Im Jahr 1283 wurde bestimmt, das voldgæsteri als Vandalismus verfolgt wurde, und in der Erkenntnis, dass ein Bedarf für Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten bestand, wurde gleichzeitig bestimmt, dass entlang der Hauptverbindungsstrassen Gasthöfe gebaut werden sollten. Übernachungen in Klostern, bei Priestern, Bauern und anderen wurden verboten. 1396 fügte Königin Margrethe die I. eine Anordnung hinzu, dass alle Landvogte jede vierte Meile (4×7,5 Kilometer) ein Gasthaus bauen sollten, und dass jeder, der dort einkehrte, für sein Geld Bewirtung kaufen können sollte, und dass man die Preise nicht höher setzen durfte als die, die für die nächste Kaufmannsstadt galten.
