Gleich am ersten März hat es geschneit, pünktlich zum dänischen Frühlingsanfang (für mich ist das immer noch der 21. März). Das taute dann schnell weg und wir atmeten erleichtert auf. Aber vor zwei Tagen kam es dann dicke mit 30 cm und hartem Wind, und keine Aussicht auf Tauwetter für die nächste Woche mindestens.
… Right at the beginning of March it started to snow, right in time for the Danish start of spring (for me it is still the 21st of March). It melted away quite quickly, and we breathed a sigh of relief. But two days ago we were hit again, this time with 30 cm (one foot?) of snow and hard wind, and no prospect of thawing for at least one week more.

Gestern hat uns der Wahnsinn gepackt und wir sind eineinhalb Stunden auf den Rebild Hügeln im dicken Schnee herumgestapft. Ich fand es unter den Umständen schon ziemlich anstrengend, wenn auch schön. Zumindest war es windstill.
… Yesterday, we were struck by foolishness and stomped through the heavy snow for an hour and a half in the Rebild hills. I must admit that I found that tiring under the circumstances, but also beautiful. At least there wasn’t any wind.

Das letzte Foto gefiel mir einfach nur. Wir waren im Februar nicht so viel unterwegs, denn nach Gran Canaria waren wir erst einmal zwei Wochen erkältet und sind noch nicht ganz damit fertig.

Während es in England und Deutschland schon nach Herzenslust blüht, haben wir hier jetzt erst die ersten, zaghaften „Emporkömmlinge“.

Eine kleine Überraschung: Mein Rosenkohl hat tatsächlich kleine Köhlchen gebildet, und das, nachdem die Pflanzen dreimal von Schnecken abgefressen worden sind. Sie sind aber so klein, dass es sich nicht lohnt, sie zu ernten. Ich werde es aber dieses Jahr wieder versuchen in einem der Kästen.

Natürlich gab es auch einen Aussichtsturm, den „Vogelturm“. Der ist zum Vogelbeobachten gedacht, nicht dazu, dass sich dort Vögel niederlassen.

Auf dem Rückweg hatten wir sogar fünf Minuten Sonne, aber nachmittags kam dann wieder Regen und Sturm. Wir hatten wirklich Glück mit unserem Spaziergang!

Im Winter ist die Flut höher als sonst, weil wir dann auch so viele Stürme haben, wie auch in der kommenden Woche vorausgesagt. … In winter the high tide is higher than during the rest of the year, because we have many storms during that season; the next has been announced for the coming week.
Aber wir hatten zwei wunderschöne Tage im Januar, der eine sogar ganz ohne Wind!

Ganz kurz eine Bemerkung für die Vogelgucker unter uns: Ich habe drei Grünfinkenmännchen und ein -weibchen am Futterplatz gesehen. Die Anzahl hat sich also zum letzten Jahr verdoppelt. Vielleicht sind da noch mehr Weibchen, ich kann sie manchmal nicht von den Buchfinkenweibchen unterscheiden. Warum erwähne ich das überhaupt? Weil die Zahl der Grünfinken generell drastisch schwindet.
… A very short remark for the bird watchers among us: I have spied three greenfinch males and one female at the feeders. Their number has therewith doubled from last year. There may be more females, I have sometimes difficulties to tell them apart from the chaffinch females. Why do I mention this at all? Because the number of greenfinches in general is dwindling drastically.

Die Brücke zur Sandbank … ahem, welche Sandbank? … The bridge over to the sandbank … ahem, which sandbank? Der Weg ist unter Wasser, aber mit Gummistiefeln geht es noch. — The path is flooded, but with wellies one can still walk there. Die Leute versuchen wirklich alles, um die Küste zu retten. Alle Baumstämme von entwurzelten Bäumen und anderer Holzabfall wird an die Küste gebracht und dort verankert. Man muss dazu sagen, dass die anliegenden Grundstücke fast ausschliesslich in Privatbesitz sind, selbst wenn man die Wege benutzen darf. Die Küstenbefestigung hier ist damit eine reine Privatinitiative. … People are really trying everything to save the coast. All logs from uprooted trees and other wood debris is used to fill in the gaps. I need to mention that the adjacent properties are almost all in private hands, even if it is allowed to use the hiking paths. In other words, the coast fixation is a purely private initiative. Was wir an dem Morgen an Sonne hatten, war dann gegen Mittag schon wieder von Wolken bedeckt. … The sun that we had in the morning, was already covered by clouds again by midday.
Gestern hatten wir einen ganzen Tag Sonne, das heisst im Januar hatten wir bereits 1 2/2 Sonnentage! 🙂

Wie ihr bereits aus dem Titel ersehen könnt, ist es dieses Mal nur eines. Im Dezember hat sich nicht viel getan, und das Wetter war so ungemütlich, dass wir kaum aus dem Haus gingen, selbst wenn die Dänen sagen „Es gibt keine schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Bekleidung“.
… As you can see already from the title, it is only one this time. Nothing much has happened in December, and the weather was so unpleasant that we hardly left the house, even if the Danes claim „There is no bad weather, only bad clothing“.
Auf ein Neues in 2023! Mögen Liebe, Freundlichkeit und Mitgefühl die Oberhand gewinnen! Mehr Zusammenarbeit anstelle von Konkurrenzdenken wäre auch nicht schlecht. Lasst uns Albert Schweitzers „Ehrfurcht vor dem Leben“ im Herzen tragen.
