Ich möchte euch hier das letzte der fünf Stücke vorstellen, die wir neu eingespielt haben, „Nights in white satin“. Jetzt ist damit erst einmal wieder Pause, weil wir intensiv üben müssen, denn wir haben zur Sommersonnenwende zwei Auftritte, einen in unserem Dorf und einen etwas weiter südlich am Mariager Fjord. Mit anderen Worten, wir müssen verschärft üben …
Das Flötensolo habe ich vorher mit dem Keyboard eingespielt, und dann haben wir es mit unserem Hintergrund-Soundtrack (Schlagzeug und andere Instrumente) zusammengefügt. Es ist ziemlich lang, und ich traue mir nicht zu, es fehlerfrei zu spielen, wenn wir vor Publikum auftreten. Ich werde dann doch ziemlich nervös. 😉
(Übrigens, auf Grund des vermehrten Übens und der vermehrten Gartenarbeit, komme ich nicht mehr so viel zum Lesen. Wenn ich im Moment nicht so oft bei euch kommentiere, nehmt das bitte nicht als Desinteresse, ich schaffe einfach nicht alles auf einmal!)
… I would like to present the last of the five songs that we have recorded lately, „Nights in white satin“. We will have to pause with that for a while, as we will have two gigs for the summer solstice, one in our own village, and one further south at the Mariager fjord. In other words: we have to intensify our rehearsals.
I recorded the flute solo separately with the keyboard, and then we merged it with our background soundtrack (percussion and other instruments). It is rather long, and I didn’t trust myself to play it without mistakes in front of an audience. I do have the tendency to get nervous. 😉
(By the way, because of the increased rehearsing and the increased garden work, I don’t have so much time anymore for reading. So if I don’t comment so much at the moment, please don’t take that as lack of interest, I simply can’t manage all at the same time!)

Wir sehen im Moment nicht viel anderes hier bei uns, nur ab und zu mal ein Kiek durch die Wolken. Ich war extrem beschäftigt gestern, deshalb gibt es noch etwas Musik, etwas zum frühmorgendlichen Aufpeppen (9.15 Uhr, das ist früh), was trotzdem zum aktuellen Wetter passt … wenn auch nicht ganz.
… We don’t see much else here at the moment, just from time to time a hole through the clouds. I was extremely busy yesterday, so I give you some more music, something to pick you up so early on a Saturday morning (9:15 a.m. that’s early), something that fits the actual weather situation … if not entirely.
Nicht in letzter Zeit; wir haben mehr den Regen gesehen, wie er an einem regnerischen Tag fällt. Aber ich wollte mich ja nie wieder über Regen beschweren, war das nicht so? Von wegen Dürre 2018.
Not lately; we have rather seen rain falling on a rainy day. But I said I would never complain about rain again, didn’t I? Drought in 2018?
Vor unserem Urlaub auf Gran Canaria hatten wir ja drei Musikstücke aufgenommen … aber die Kamera nicht angeschaltet. 😀 Vor zwei Wochen haben wir dann die drei Stücke noch einmal aufgenommen, feine Bildqualität … ja, das Mikrofon war nicht angeschaltet … 😀 😀 Letzten Mittwoch ist es uns dann endlich gelungen alles einzuschalten und Musikvideos zu machen (Applaus). Weiter unten findet ihr das erste, Hotel California.
… Before we went to Gran Canaria we had recorded three songs … but forgot to switch on the camera. 😀 Two weeks ago, we have recorded them again and got a really fine image quality … yes, the microphone wasn’t switched on … 😀 😀 Last Wednesday we finally succeeded in switching on everything and recording music (applause). Wir bekommen Besuch zu Weihnachten und sind zwischendurch auch eingeladen, so dass ich nicht weiss, wie viel Zeit ich für den Computer haben werde. Wir sehen uns spätestens im nächsten Jahr. Bleibt alle gesund!

Ich brauchte mal etwas total Verrücktes und Ausgeflipptes und mein Mann fand es für mich: The Trashmen und ihr „Surfin Bird“. Schaut bis zuende, er flippt zum Schluss noch richtig aus. Das war ein Hit in 1963 … 😉

Was mich dann doch gewundert hat – ich las das bei Wikipedia – dass es sie anscheinend 2013 noch gab, immer mal mit Pausen und dann Wiedervereinigungen. Sie sind sogar auf internationalen Tourneen gewesen.
… What surprised me was – I read that on Wikipedia – that they seemed to be still existing in 2013, breaking up and reuniting from time to time. They even went on international tours.
Aber doch, die Liköre sind alle fertig, sogar der letzte mit den Rosenblütenblättern. Die Menge wird uns bis Anfang Februar reichen, glaube ich.
But anyway, the liqueurs are ready, even the last one with rose petals. They will get us through until the start of February, I presume.
Da der November so griesgrämig war, hatte ich das Bedürfnis, mir Blüten ins Haus zu holen. Die Amaryllis sind leider jetzt verblüht, aber die Alpenveilchen sind ja ausdauernd.

Am 21.11. hatten wir Schnee, und heute am 7.12. auch. Es soll von jetzt ab kälter werden.

Zu guter Letzt ein Musikvideo. Wir haben uns eine neue Kamera angeschafft, was eine gute Idee war. Die Seitenansichten haben wir wieder mit unseren Handys gefilmt und der Gentleman hat das dann alles zusammengeschnitten. Wir werden jetzt unser ganzes Repertoire noch einmal aufnehmen. Zum Einen sind wir besser geworden, zum anderen haben wir jetzt unsere „Gig“-Kleidung und werden vermeiden, in Puschen aufzutreten … 😉
… Last but not least a music video. We have spoilt ourselves with a new camera, which was a good idea. The side views we have recorded with out mobile phones again, and the gentleman has cut it all together. We will record our entire repertoire again. On the one hand we have gotten better, on the other hand we now have our „gig“ dress and will avoid to perform in slippers … 😉
Am kommenden Wochenende veranstaltet das Kulturhaus in unserem Dorf ein Fest für Kinder mit Weihnachtsbaum und einem Gentleman-Weihnachtsmann, Lieder singen, basteln, Kinder-Bingo wo alle gewinnen etc. etc. Wir sind zum ersten Mal dabei und sind gespannt.
… On the coming weekend, the culture house of our village organizes a party for the children with Christmas tree, gentleman-Santa Clause, songs, handicrafts, kids‘ bingo where they all win etc. etc. It is the first time for us, and we are looking forward to it.
Die erste grosse Nachricht: wir haben unseren Wohnwagen verkauft. Das hatte verschiedene Gründe. Zum Glück bekamen wir einen relativ guten Preis von einem sehr netten jüngeren Ehepaar, die gleich damit nach Italien abgesaust sind.
… The first news: We have sold our caravan. That had several reasons. Luckily we got a relatively good price from a very nice young couple, who immediately went off to Italy with it.
Daraus folgt, dass wir jetzt den Kastenwagen nicht mehr unbedingt brauchen und uns wohl auf längere Sicht wieder ein kleineres Auto zulegen werden.
… As a consequence, we don’t necessarily need the van anymore, and might exchange it for a smaller car in the long run.
Wir haben ja am 7. September in Bælum im Altersheim Musik gespielt. Das war ein schönes Erlebnis, danke, dass ihr uns eingeladen habt! Und danke für Kaffee und hervorragenden Kuchen 
. Wir haben ein Video aufgenommen und mein Mann hat es zusammengeschnippelt. Natürlich gab es wieder technische Probleme, man lernt ja nie aus. Zum Einen hatten wir vergessen, die alten Videos von der Kamera zu löschen, so dass nicht alles aufgenommen wurde. Wir haben allerdings auch mit den Handys gefilmt. Alle drei standen ja vor uns, auf uns gerichtet, und dahinter sass das Publikum. Wenn die Zuhörer dann zu laut gesprochen haben, stellten (das ist „zum Anderen“) alle drei sich auf die Zuhörer ein, und die Musik wurde leiser aufgenommen. Ein Problem war auch, dass wir überhaupt sehr leise spielen mussten, denn die Heimleiterin meinte, dass die alten Leute allzu viel Decibel nicht aushalten könnten. Nächstes Mal wissen wir Bescheid und stellen uns darauf ein. Etwas von den Aufnahmen war aber doch zu gebrauchen …
… On 7 September, as already mentioned, we played music in Bælum at the retirement home. That was a great experience, thank you for inviting us! And thanks as well for coffee and superb cake We recorded a video and my husband cut it together. Of course, there were technical problems again, one never stops learning. On the one hand, we forgot to delete the old videos from the camera so not everything was recorded. However, we also filmed with cell phones. All three were standing in front of us, pointing at us, and behind them sat the audience. If the listeners then spoke too loudly, all three (that’s „on the other hand“) tuned in to the listeners and the music was recorded lower. Another problem was that we had to play very low in the first place, because the director of the home said that the old people couldn’t stand too many decibel. Next time we know and will prepare for it. But some of the recordings could still be used …
Garten:
Wir haben die ersten Maiskolben geerntet und in Butter gebraten verspeist. Wir haben noch 8 grosse und 3 kleine im Beet. Anfangs waren es 16 Pflanzen, davon ist eine eingegangen und eine trägt nicht, aber das ist meine Schuld, ich habe sie zu dicht an andere Stauden gesetzt. Jedenfalls ist das kein schlechtes Ergebnis.
… Garden:
We have harvested the first maize (corn) cobs and ate them fried in butter. We still have 8 large and 3 small ones in the plot. I had 16 plants at the beginning, whereof one died, and one doesn’t bear fruit, which is my fault, as I have planted it too close to other perennials. In any case, it is a good result.
Im Juli habe ich von unserem Nachbarn die Erlaubnis erhalten, von dreien seiner Rosen Stecklinge zu schneiden. Das Ergebnis war sehr unterschiedlich. Die von einer halbwilden Rose, von denen ich eigentlich erwartet hatte, dass sie leicht wurzeln schlagen, sind eingegangen. Die anderen 6 von den Edelkletterrosen leben alle noch, mehr oder weniger gut. Der nachfolgende Steckling schiesst den Vogel ab. Der Steckling ist der Zweig links, der rechts ist ein neuer Zweig.
… In July our neighbour gave me permission to take cuttings of three of his roses. The result was very varying. The ones of a half wild rose, of which I had expected that they grow roots quickly, have died. The other six of the two hybrid tea climbers are still alive, some better than others. The below one takes the biscuit. The cutting is the twig on the left, the one on the right is new growth.
Zum Schluss noch eine lustige Geschichte. Wir haben anscheinend einen Igel, der die herabgefallenen Mirabellen frisst. Wir finden jedenfalls überall die kleinen schwarzen Hinterlassenschaften (zu klein für Katzen und immer schwarz). Wir mögen die Mirabellen von dem Baum nicht, sie sind mehlig und geschmacklos (nicht von uns gepflanzt). Der Igel schien Durchfall zu bekommen von dem vielen Obst, was man am Kot sehen konnte, und an einem Tag hinterliess er „Schleifspuren“ auf dem Gras. Anscheinend hat er seinen Allerwertesten über das Gras gezogen um „abzuwischen“. Ich musste daran denken, dass Hunde und Katzen das manchmal, sehr zur Freude ihrer Familien, auf Teppichen machen. Ich hatte jedenfalls diesen Igel vor dem inneren Auge, wie er mit dem Hinterteil über das Gras rutscht. 😀 😀 😀
… Finally, a funny story. Apparently we have a hedgehog eating the fallen mirabelles. In any case, we are finding the small black legacies everywhere (too small for cats and always black). We don’t like the mirabelles from the tree, they are mealy and tasteless (we didn’t plant the tree). The hedgehog seemed to get diarrhea from all the fruit, which could be seen from the droppings, and one day it left „scuff marks“ on the grass. Apparently he dragged his butt across the grass to „wipe“. It crossed my mind that dogs and cats sometimes do this on carpets, much to the delight of their families. In any case, I saw this hedgehog in my mind’s eye, sliding across the grass on its rear end. 😀 😀 😀
Wir hatten gestern unseren Spieljob im Altersheim ein paar Dörfer von uns entfernt. Da wir dreimal verschieben mussten wegen der Vorliebe meines Mannes, sich in Notaufnahmen aufzuhalten, waren nicht so viele Zuschauer anwesend, wie erhofft, aber doch mehr, als die Leiterin erwartet hätte. Es lief sehr gut, das Publikum war humorvoll und die meisten waren in der Lage sich an der Musik zu erfreuen. Einige wollten auch mehr als eine Zugabe, aber die Leiterin meinte, dass es genug wäre. Nicht alle der älteren Leute geben zu, dass sie genug haben. Wir fanden es schön zu sehen, dass wir Freude gebracht haben. (Ausserdem gab es ganz tollen Kuchen … 😉 )
… Yesterday we had our gig in a retirement home a few villages away from us. As we had to postpone several times because of my husband’s preference to linger in emergency rooms, there were not as many spectators as we hoped, but more than the director espected. It went fine, the audience had a good humour and most of them were able to enjoy the music. Some wanted more than one encore, but the director thought it was enough. Not all of the elderly people would admit that they had enough. We were glad to see that we brought some enjoyment to them. (And there was really good cake … 😉 )

Das Mittsommernachtsfest am 23. Juni (Sankt Hans Aften auf Dänisch) war sehr nett und unsere Musik wurde sehr gut entgegengenommen. Wir haben sogar gestern noch von einem Nachbarn gehört, dass man ihm erzählt hätte, wie schön die Musik war (er musste früh nach Hause gehen wegen seiner kranken Frau). Eine Dame kam extra in unseren Garten, weil sie mich erspäht hatte, nur um mir dasselbe zu erzählen. Das hört man doch gerne. Ein kurzes Video kann man auf Facebook ansehen. Unser eigenes Video ist klangmässig fein, aber bildmässig etwas „gewellt“, denn ich hatte unser Handy auf den Basslautsprecher gestellt. Manche Stellen sind gewellter als andere. 😉 Das Video ist eine Stunde lang, mit 15 Musikstücken, aber ihr konnt ja „hoppen“. Die Liste ist ziemlich gemischt. Ich stelle hier einen Link zum Video rein, der drei Monate lang zur Verfügung steht.
The midsummer night celebration on June 23rd (Sankt Hans Aften in Danish) was very nice and our music was very well received. Even yesterday we heard from a neighbor that he was told how beautiful the music was (he had to leave early because of his sick wife). A lady came into our garden because she had spotted me, just to tell me the same thing. One likes to hear that. A short video can be viewed on Facebook. The sound of our own video is fine, but the visuals are a bit „wavy“ because I placed our mobile phone on the bass speaker. Some parts are more wavy than others. 😉 The video is an hour long, with 15 pieces of music, but you could „hop“. The repertoire is pretty mixed. I’m putting a link to the video here, which will be available for three months.

Eines haben wir herausgefunden: Unsere Anlage ist zu schwer und zu kompliziert aufzubauen. Etwas Modernes, Leichteres muss her. Wir haben natürlich schon etwas gefunden und werden die alte Anlage verkaufen. Was jetzt aus vier Teilen besteht, schrumpft damit zu nur einem Teil. Wir haben uns schnell entschlossen, denn vom Altersheim im Nachbardorf hat man uns bereits angesprochen f¨ür eine oder mehrere Vorstellungen, gratis natürlich. Auch wird es dann einfacher, die Musikgeräte mit nach Kopenhagen zu unseren Freunden zu nehmen.
… One thing we found out: Our system is too heavy and too complicated to set up. Something modern and lighter is needed. Of course, we have already found something and will sell the old system. What now consists of four parts shrinks to one part only. We made our decision quickly, because the retirement home in the neighbouring village has already approached us for one or more performances, free of charge, of course. It will also be easier to take the music system along to our friends in Copenhagen.
Die Essenausgabe mussten wir aufgeben. Wir schaffen das einfach physisch nicht. Das sind zwischen 10-12 Kartons mit 30-50 Kilo, die wir auch selber packen, ohne Packtische, also immer über den Boden gebeugt. Das Beugen kann mein Mann nicht, und das Schleppen kann ich nicht. Dazu kommt, dass ein paar der Empfänger Hilfe beim Rauftragen in die Wohnung brauchen, und das können wir wirklich nicht mehr, da müssen junge Leute her. Aber wenn wir gratis für ältere Leute Musik spielen, ist das ja auch eine Art Dienst am Nächsten, denke ich.
… We had to give up the food distribution. We just can’t do it physically. There are between 10-12 boxes with 30-50 kilos each, which we also pack ourselves, without packing tables, so always bent over down to the ground. My husband can’t do the bending, and I can’t do the carrying. In addition, a few of the recipients need help carrying them up to the apartment, and we really can’t do that anymore, young people have to help. But if we play music for older people for free, that’s a kind of service to others as well, I think.
Seit einigen Monaten machen wir zweimal in der Woche Muskeltraining in einem Fitnesscenter, gratis für uns als Rentner, denn es befindet sich in einer Art kommunalen Altentagesstätte in Aalborg. Kräfte- und gichtmässig hat mir das schon sehr geholfen.
… Since March, we are going to a fitness centre twice a week to do muscle training. It is free of charge for retirees, as it is integrated in a kind of municipal retiree club facilities in Aalborg. It has helped me a lot to gain strength and reduce my arthrosis problems.
Das Wetter war merkwürdig bis zum Mittsommernachtsfest, kalt, bewölkt, aber trocken. Seitdem haben wir sowas wie Sommer. Einen Tag hat es durchgeregnet, was wir auch dringend brauchten. Das Klima verändert sich eben, auch wenn viele das immer noch abstreiten. Da wir ja kein Kontinentalklima haben, was im Vornherein recht extrem in seinen Ausschlägen ist, macht es sich bei uns noch nicht allzu heftig bemerkbar. Aber wir bemerken spät einsetzende Fröste, mit Nachtfrösten bis in den Mai hinein, trockene Frühlinge (März-Mai, wobei der April bei uns schon immer recht trocken war), und danach ist es dann offen, ob es trocken bleibt oder durchregnet im Sommer. All das ist natürlich gar nichts gegen die Brände, Erdrutsche, Erdbeben, Windhosen und Überschwemmungen in anderen Teilen der Welt. Das einzige Jahr, in dem wir mal Brände hatten war 2018.
… The weather was strange until Midsummer Eve festival, cold, cloudy, but dry. Since then, we’ve had something like summer. It rained one day, which we urgently needed. The climate is changing, even if many still deny it. Since we don’t have a continental climate, which is quite extreme to begin with, it doesn’t make itself felt too strongly here yet. But we notice late onsetting frosts, with night frosts well into May (that’s very new), dry springs (March-May, although April has always been quite dry here), and after that it is open whether it will remain dry or rain throughout the summer. All of this is, of course, nothing compared to the wildfires, landslides, earthquakes, tornadoes and floods in other parts of the world. The only year we ever had wildfires was 2018.
