Diese Tour ist eine unserer Lieblinge. Wegen fortgeschrittenen Alters können wir allerdings nicht mehr fünf Stunden am Tag auf diesen engen, kurvigen Strassen fahren und haben daher an anderen Tagen auch mal die Autbahn benutzt. Als wir 1992 das erste Mal auf Gran Canaria waren, befand sich das eingekreiste Stück Strasse noch im Bau. Wir kamen damals aus entgegengesetzter Richtung, von Las Niñas und den Seen, wo die Strasse schön asfaltiert war. Das hörte dann irgendwann auf, aber es gab keine Warnschild, das eine Baustellen ankündigte. Wir befanden uns dann auf einmal auf einem längeren Stück neu aus dem Felsen gesprengter Strasse. Die grössten Felsen hatte man allerdings schon aus dem Weg geräumt. Zum Umkehren gab es keine Möglichkeit. Auf diesem Stück nicht vorhandener Strasse kamen wir an einem grossen weissen Stein vorbei, auf dem die Gemeinde Mogan uns willkommen hiess auf dieser „Carretera“, mit Farben und Goldschrift. Als wir dann unten an der Hauptstrasse nach Mogan ankamen, fuhren wir durch eine Baustelle und einen halb geöffneten Bauzaun. Von der Hauptstrasse aus wären wir hier nie reingefahren. Aber jetzt ist die Strasse richtig schön asfaltiert … bis ganz nach oben.

… This tour is one of our favorites. Due to our advanced age, however, we can no longer drive five hours a day on these narrow, winding roads and, therefore, also used the motorway on other days. When we were in Gran Canaria for the first time in 1992, the circled section of the road was still under construction. At that time we came from the opposite direction, from Las Niñas and the lakes, where the road was nicely tarmaced. That stopped at some point, but there was no warning sign announcing a construction site. Suddenly we found ourselves on a long stretch of road that had just been blasted out of the rock. However, the largest rocks had already been cleared out of the way. There was no turning back. On this stretch of non-existent road we passed a large white stone on which the municipality of Mogan welcomed us on this „carretera“, with colors and gold lettering. When we got down to the main road to Mogan, we drove through a construction site and a half-open site fence. We would never have driven in here from the main road side. But now the road is paved really nicely … all the way to the top.

Auf der anderen Seite dieses Aussichtspunktes waren zwei Schlagersänger dabei, ein Musikvideo zu filmen. Eine Frau rief ihnen laufend den Text zu, damit die Mundbewegungen richtig wurden, das war irgendwie witzig, und in Seemannsuniformen in einer Berglandschaft, naja. Es könnte sich bei den beiden um ein Duo handeln, das sich „Fantasy“ nennt, aber ich bin nicht ganz sicher. Der Text war irgendwas mit: „Ich habe dich gesehen und mein Herz blieb stehen“ oder so etwas Ähnliches.

… On the other side of the viewpoint, two pop singers were making a music video. A woman shouted out the text for them so that the mouth movements turned out right. That was funny somehow, and they were in mariners‘ uniforms on a mountain range, well, well. The two could be a duo that call themselves „Fantasy“, but I am not sure. The text was something like: „Ich habe dich gesehen und mein Herz blieb stehen“ or something similar (when I saw you I had a cardiac arrest, no, that is mean, maybe „when I saw you, my heart skipped a beat“ or something in that direction).

Wir sind dieses Mal nicht nach Las Niñas gefahren, sondern nach rechts auf die alte Landstrasse nach Arguíneguín abgebogen. Dort wurde es dann wieder recht abenteuerlich, denn die Strasse wird anscheinend nicht instandgehalten. Der folgende Film nimmt euch mit auf die Strasse …
Am Stausee (Embalse) von Soria endet der kleine Film.

… This time we did not go to Las Niñas, but turned right into the old road to Arguíneguín. From there it got a bit adventurous again, as that road doesn’t seem to get any maintenance. The following movie takes you along on the road …

Für diejenigen, die das Hotel am Anfang nicht interessiert: bei 1:30 Min. sind wir auf der Landstrasse und die Strasse nach Las Niñas beginnt bei 3:50 Min.

… For those who are not interested in the hotel at the beginning: at 1:30 min we are on the country road, and the road to Las Niñas starts at about 3:50 min.

Über die Staumauer ganz hinten im Bild sind wir beim ersten Mal rübergefahren und haben erst auf der anderen Seite festgestellt, dass man das nicht darf. Aber wir mussten ja zurückfahren …

Die Strasse runter nach Soria ist übrigens noch schmaler als die so genannte Hauptstrasse nach Arguíneguín. Leiht euch lieber kein allzu grosses Auto.

… The road down to Soria is, by the way, even narrower than the so called main road to Arguíneguín. Maybe better don’t hire the largest car.
