Die ersten Frühlingsblüten und ein bisschen Gejammer / … The first spring flowers and a wee bit of whining

Eigentlich sind es die zweiten Frühlingsblüten, die Zwergiris und Schneeglöckchen waren die ersten.

… Actually, they are the second spring flowers, the dwarf irises and snowdrops were the first.

Am vergangenen Montag habe ich die erste dicke Erdhummel getroffen. Dann muss der Frühling sich doch stabilisieren, nicht wahr?

… Last Monday, I have met the first large white-tailed bumblebee. That has to mean that spring is stabilizing, right?

Ich habe den Trailer zum zweiten Mal gefüllt und habe noch nicht einmal Gartenabfall mitnehmen können. Allein die Mengen an Plastiktöpfen in allen Grössen, Formen und Farben haben mich erstaunt. Ich kann doch unmöglich so viele Pflanzen gekauft haben! Ich bin sicher, dass sich nachts meine Nachbarn in den Garten schleichen und bei mir ihre überschüssigen Plastiktöpfe deponieren! 😉 Am Mittwoch habe ich die Tische auseinandergenommen und aufgeräumt. Jetzt muss ich nur noch die Fliesen einsammeln.

I have filled the trailer for the second time and couldn’t even take any of the garden waste along. The myriads of plastic flowerpots in all sizes, shapes and colours alone amazed me. I can’t possibly have bought that many plants! I am convinced that my neighbours sneek into my garden at night and deposit their surplus plastic flowerpots there! 😉 On Wednesday, I have taken the shelves apart and cleaned up. Now I only have to take up the tiles.

Am Montag habe ich damit angefangen auszusortieren was ich mitnehmen will und was nicht. Der neue Garten ist klein. Wenn ich überhaupt einen Rhodendron mitnehme, dann den kleinsten. Ich nehme nichts mit, was ich überall kaufen kann, sondern nur die Pflanzen, die entweder geerbt oder selten sind. Und dann natürlich ein paar Himbeer- und Johannisbeerpflanzen und Brombeerstecklinge. Ich habe auch entschieden, dass ich nicht ganz ohne eigenes Gemüse sein möchte. Es wird also ein kleines Hochbeet geben. Kräuter nehme ich natürlich auch mit. Am Mittwoch habe ich zwei Stunden lang Rosen und anderes ausgegraben und Erdsäcke geschleppt und mich dann gewundert, warum ich so müde war und mein Rücken schmerzte.

… On Monday, I have started to sort out what I want to take along and what will stay. The new garden is small. If I take a rhododendron at all, then it will be the smallest of them. Ich will not take anything with me that I can buy everywhere, but only plants that I have either inherited or which are rare. And then, of course, a couple of raspberry and current plants and cuttings from the blackberry plant. I have also decided that I don’t want to be entirely without my own vegetables. So, there will be a small high bed. Herbs I will take along as well, of course. On Wednesday, I have dug up roses and other plants and carried bags with soil, and then I was surprised that I was so tired, and that my back hurt.

Ich musste nochmal etwas Frühling einkaufen. Vielleicht sind die Töpfe doch alle meine eigenen gewesen 😉 Ich habe, als Verzierung verkleidet, einige Stecklinge von Büschen und Bäumen mit hineingesteckt. Hoffentlich bewurzeln sie sich. 🙂

… I had to buy a bit of spring again. Maybe the pots were mine after all 😉 Disguised as decoration, I have added a few cuttings from bushes and trees. Let us hope they will take root. 🙂

Jedenfalls lernt man die Bedeutung des Ausdrucks „Besitz belastet“, wenn man umzieht. 😉 Ein paar graue Haare hat es mich auch schon gekostet … also ich habe welche dazu bekommen, nicht welche verloren … 😉 I gebe es endlich zu: ich bin froh, dass der neue Garten kleiner ist, ich bin zu alt für einen so grossen Garten!

… In any case, moving teaches us the meaning of the expression „possessions are a burden“. 😉 All this has cost me a few grey hairs as well … meaning I got more of them, not less 😉 I finally admit it: I am glad that the new garden is smaller; I am too old for such a big garden!
