Unverhofft kommt oft …The unexpected comes along frequently (?)

… I have to show you this. We were at the assembly of the village council a few weeks ago, where we mentioned that we are playing music. Some people have looked at our videos on YouTube and last Friday 4 people came by to hear us life. And today this leaflet fluttered into our letterbox.

… It says there that the local musicians Birgit and Steffen will play music for all tastes (all tastes, yeah, right) at the summer solstice party on 23 June. I am so excited and hope that I will not get a blackout. Cross fingers for us, please! We will, of course, try and make a film.

… The menue (saddle steak) is not really our favourite 😉 , but let’s see what the promoted side dishes are.

      1. Is that right? You must be biting your nails? Don’t worry. You will do fine. Just remember to breathe slowly and deeply before you start, and look at the audience. It’s good for stage fright…

          1. I’ve had a few courses on speaking in public, the last one by a true genius, business school and actor school. Perfect. He trained us well. I’ve given conferences to audiences of 200, up to 500 people. The key is to control your breathing. Stage fright is a rush of adrenalin, which is good, puts all your senses in alert. But it also speeds your heartbeat and makes you nervous. If you do 5 minutes slow, deep breathing (Do you do any yoga?) just before you go „on Stage“, you will be fine. And remember to look at your audience in the eye. Normally one is afraid to do so for fear of rejection. Don’t be afraid, you play better than any of them…

            1. Haha, you might be right that we play better than any of them! Thanks!
Yes, I do Yoga and breathing exercises, it is very helpful in all tight spots.
I have always hated to be the centre of attention, but at work I also had to hold courses in different subjects and had to overcome that.

  1. Congratulations, dear Birgit and Steffen, on the invitation to provide live music at the the summer solstice festival! Just recently, we were wondering if there would be another music video made by you. We are so happy for this turn of events.

    1. That is so kind of Biene and you! We had actually given up on performing publicly, and then came this. One of the life listeners is working in a retirement home, and she will ask her management, if we shouldn’t play there too. They had music there, something like German Schlager, and the „inmates“ thought it was kind of boring, haha. It is our generation in there now that grew up with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones etc.
We are playing for free, of course …
