Bei meiner Suche nach lustigen Videos (die immer schwieriger wird), bin ich auf die Aquarellfilme von Elin Lynn gestossen. Ich habe drei von verschiedener Art ausgewählt, um sie euch vorzustellen. Die „Serenity“ Filme sind sehr meditativ. Alles in allem ist die künstlerische Darstellung – in meinen Augen – einfach nur wunderschön. Neulich hat ein anderer Blogger einen ihrer Filme vorgestellt. Dort bekam ich die Mitteilung, dass die Filme für die Nutzung auf anderen Webseiten gesperrt sind. Ich gebe euch daher die Links direkt zu YouTube, da es hier nicht funktioniert.

Fürst Renato verdient einen eigenen Beitrag, finde ich. Sein kleines Fürstentum Pontinha oder Ilheu da Pontinha liegt in Funchals Hafen, am Anfang des Kais, an dem die Kreuzfahrtschiffe anlegen. Den Text zwischen den Bildern habe ich teilweise der Wikipedia entnommen. Diese Textstellen werde ich mit Ausrufungszeichen markieren.

Fürst Renato hat meinem Mann angeboten, Botschafter des Fürstentums in Dänemark zu werden. Das sollte eine ziemliche Summe Geld kosten (ich glaube 2500 EUR oder so, wenn ich mich richtig daran erinnere), und dafür bekam man dann den Titel und eine schicke Urkunde. Angeblich hatte man dann denselben Status wie Botschafter anderer Länder, was recht unwahrscheinlich ist, denn Pontinha war zu der Zeit nicht von sehr vielen Ländern anerkannt.

Woher die Informationen auf dem Schild stammen, weiss ich nicht. Versucht nicht, auf die darauf angegebene Webseite zu kommen, die ist nicht sicher! Die offizielle Webseite ist ilheu-da-pontinha-principado.org – dort findet ihr einen interessanten Text über die Geschichte der Insel und die Nationalhymne Pontinhas. Vielleicht ist das alles doch kein Schwindel … Ferner findet ihr dort Bilder bzw. Videos von seiner Krönung, seine Pläne mit der Insel und über den Coup des portugiesischen Staates gegenüber Pontinha. Auf der Webseite wird er meistens Renato I genannt, wohingegen er ansonsten Renato II ist. Aber wir wollen nicht so genau sein oder?

Endlich gingen wir mal wieder in Fjordbyen spazieren. Wunderbar, dachte ich, das gibt schöne Adventsbilder. Ich hatte allerdings vergessen, dass Fjordbyen ja – theoretisch – nur im Sommerhalbjahr bewohnt ist.

Wir hatten ja gesehen, dass in den letzten beiden Jahren viel an den Häusern gearbeitet wurde wegen der zusätzlichen Brandisolierung, die von der Kommune gefordert wurde. Jetzt konnte man sehen, dass der Unterschied zwischen den gepflegten Häusern und den vernachlässigten noch grösser geworden ist. Wir haben drei bis vier gesehen, die kurz vor dem Zusammenfallen waren. Schade!

Ich hatte euch ja versprochen, dass wir dieses Mal ein wenig die Insel erkunden werden. Nach dem ersten Ausflug zu der völlig kahlen Felsenzunge, werdet ihr dieses Mal ganz andere Landschaften kennenlernen. Der Monte Palace Madeira Park hat euch ja schon gezeigt, dass Madeira nicht nur aus unbewachsenen Felsen besteht.

Das Hochplateau wird von mehreren Strassen durchkreuzt, die wir während unserer beider Reisen alle gefahren sind. Die meisten sind jedoch asfaltiert.

Am anderen Ende wird das Plateau grüner, und bei der Fahrt hinunter an die Küste hat man schöne Ausblicke auf eine tiefe Schlucht. Es gibt dort unten einen ca. 4 Stunden langen Rundweg. Ich denke mal, dass das eine ideelle Wanderung für einen heissen Sommertag ist.

Wieder an der Küste, kamen wir an diesem überaus idyllisch gelegenen Ort vorbei.

Durch die Felswand links im Bild führt ein einspuriger Tunnel. Wir befanden uns auf einer der alten, sehr abenteuerlichen Küstenstrassen, die wir nur empfehlen können. Die neuen Autobahnen führen meistens durch lange Tunnel. Die sind praktisch, wenn man müde ist und schnell nach Hause will, aber von der Insel sieht man dann nicht viel.

The new motorways lead most of the time through long tunnels. They are handy, when one is tired and wants to get home quickly, but one does not see much of the island.

Es könnte hier an der Nordküste gewesen sein; da ist ein Tunnel eingezeichnet. Es gibt aber mehrere dieser alten Strassen. Immer wenn ihr „Antigo Traçado“ seht, fahrt dem Schild nach, es lohnt sich.
