Manchmal findet man unbekannte Wege und kleine Schätze, wo man sie am wenigsten erwartet. In diesem Fall wollten mein Mann und ich eine Ladung Gartenabfall zum nächstliegenden Wiederverwertungsplatz fahren und kamen eine Viertelstunde zu früh, das Tor war noch geschlossen. Weil dort kein Platz zum Parken ist, fuhren wir einfach den Weg weiter. Wir waren noch nie länger als zur Wiederverwertung gefahren. Es ist eine kleine, enge Landstrasse, landschaftlich richtig schön, und am Wegesrand, im Niemandsland diese Statue stand, die ich sehr bemerkenswert fand.
… Sometimes one finds unknown roads and little treasures, where one expects them least. In this case, my husband and I wanted to drive a load of garden waste to the nearest recycling place, but we were 15 minutes early, it was still closed. As one cannot park there, we just continued to drive. We had never been past the recycling. It is a small, narrow road, really pretty, and at the roadside, in no man’s land, stood this statue, which I found quite remarkable.
Spontan dachte ich „Ikarus“, aber bei genauerem Hinsehen sah er aus wie jemand, der sich gerne in die Lüfte schwingen würde, aber durch etwas festgehalten oder behindert wird. Da kann ich mich hineinfühlen. Die Figur gefiel mir wirklich gut, daher auch alle die Detail-Bilder. Es stand übrigens nirgendwo (am Sockel hatte ich gehofft), wer die Figur geschaffen hat oder wem sie gehört, wahrscheinlich den Leuten im Haus im Hintergrund. Was man nicht alles so findet …

… My first thought was „Icarus“, but when I took a closer look, he resembled somebody, who wanted to lift himself up in the sky, but was held or hindered by something. I can relate to that. I really liked that figure, therefore all the detail photos. By the way, it said nowhere (I would have hoped on the pedestal), who made the figure or to whom it belongs; most probably to the people in the house in the background. Astonishing, what one finds at the side of the road …
