― Elif Shafak (Autorin, Essayist, Vortraghalterin (u. a. TED), Aktivistin für Frauenrechte)

“Whatever happens in your life, no matter how troubling things might seem, do not enter the neighbourhood of despair.
Even when all doors remain closed, God will open up a new path only for you. Be thankful! It is easy to be thankful when all is well. A Sufi is thankful not only for what he has been given but also for all that has been denied.”
― Elif Shafak (Novelist, essayist, public speaker (f. ex. TED), women’s rights activist)

In Job, we find a similar statement. After he lost all his possessions, friends and family, „He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.”

Thank you for sharing this so fitting quote, Peter. It is also said that we should not collect treasures on earth, but in heaven with God. Everything on earth is transient, which we somehow seem to forget sometimes, especially the super rich people, who cannot get enough wealth. They cannot take anything with them, so what is the point?
