Eine kleine Zugabe für Vogelliebhaber … A little encore for bird lovers

Spatzeninvasion: Hierzu möchte ich einleitend bemerken, dass, bevor ich die Kamera geholt hatte, eine junge Amseldame friedlich alleine frass. Dann fiel diese Horde ein und sie wich an den Rand zurück und beugte sich weiter und weiter nach hinten, bis sie fliegen musste. (Das ist leider nicht mit in dem Video.) Sie kam dann aber doch zurück. Ganz am Ende flitzen noch zwei Meisen zu meinem genialen neuen Futterhaus. Es wird hauptsächlich von Meisen besucht, die sind wohl etwas pfiffiger als die anderen. Ich habe den Tisch jetzt etwas rausgerückt, so dass die Vögel von allen Seiten heran können, und jetzt kommen mehr.

… Sparrow invasion: I should like to start with the remark that – before I had gotten the camera ready – a young blackbird lady was eating peacefully all by herself. Then this horde fell in, and she retreated to the edge, leaning more and more backwards, until she had to flly. (Unfortunately that is not included in the video.) But she came finally back. At the end two tits rush to my new genious feeder. It is mostly visited by tits, maybe they are a bit smarter than the others. I have now pulled the table out from the corner, so that the birds can access from all sides, and there are more visitors now.

Ganz generell kann ich als positiv vermelden, dass wir jetzt drei bis vier Amseldamen haben, zwei davon junge, wohl vom letzten Jahr. Letzten Winter war da nur eine Amseldame, die sich kaum vor Galanen retten konnte.

… Generally, I can give you the positive news that we now have three to four blackbird ladies, two of them young ones, most probably from last year. Last winter we only had one blackbird lady, who could hardly save herself from suitors.

Auf der anderen Seite belegen die Amseln im Moment alle Futterplätze mit Beschlag. Ich habe das schon in anderen Jahren beobachtet. Sobald es friert rotten die Amseln, die sich sonst gegenseitig vertreiben, zusammen und jagen alle anderen Vögel weg. Ich lege jetzt vermehrt Futter auf die Fensterbänke, die sind so schmal, dass die Amseln da nicht landen können.

… On the other hand, the blackbirds are at present monopolizing all feeding places. I have watched that in other years. As soon as there is frost, the blackbirds, who usually chase each other away, gang together and chase all the other birds away. I put more food out on the window sills now. They are so narrow that the blackbirds cannot land there.
