Spanien ist unser heutiges Ziel, wo Mari Trini in Murcia geboren wurde.

Ich habe nicht die geringste Erinnerung daran, wie ich in Kontakt mit der Musik von Mari Trini gekommen bin. Ich habe sie jedenfalls nicht im Radio gehört und auch nicht bei Freunden.
In den 70er Jahren habe ich sie so oft gehört, dass ich einige ihrer Lieder auswendig mitsingen konnte, wie z. B. ”Una casa en el aire” (ein Luftschloss). Viele ihrer Lieder handeln von persönlicher und politischer Freiheit, Toleranz und Liebe und sind daher, in meinen Augen, zeitlos. Meine fünf Alben stammen aus der Periode 1975-1979. Ich hatte auch noch ein sechstes, aber das hat mir ein Freund abgeschwatzt.

… I cannot in the slightest remember, how I came into contact with Mari Trini’s music. I did not hear her on the radio in any case, and not from friends either.
In the seventies, I have heard her songs so often that I could sing them by heart, as for example „Una casa en el aire (castle in the air). Many of her songs are about personal and political freedom, tolerance and love, and are therefore, in my eyes, timeless. My five albums are from the period 1975-1979. I had a sixth one, but a friend coaxed me to give it to him.

María Trinidad Pérez de Miravete Mille (* 12. Juli 1947 in Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spanien; † 6. April 2009 in Murcia) war eine spanische Sängerin und Liedermacherin. Mit über 10 Millionen verkauften Tonträgern zählt die auch im spanischsprachigen Süd- und Mittelamerika populäre Künstlerin zu den 15 erfolgreichsten spanischen Musikern.

… María Trinidad Pérez de Miravete Mille (born July 12, 1947 in Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spain, † April 6, 2009 in Murcia) was a Spanish singer and songwriter. With over 10 million records sold, the artist, who is also popular in Spanish-speaking South and Central America, is one of the 15 most successful Spanish musicians.

Bald nach ihrer Geburt zogen ihre Eltern mit ihr nach Madrid. Aufgrund eines chronischen Nierenleidens war sie vom 7. bis 14. Lebensjahr immer wieder für längere Zeit bettlägerig, und die mit ihrer Krankheit einhergehende Corticoid-Behandlung hinterließ bleibende Spuren auf ihrer linken Gesichtshälfte. In jenen Jahren las sie viel, erlernte die Gitarre und erträumte sich eine Karriere als Sängerin. Von ihrem Arzt als unheilbar betrachtet stürzte sie sich dennoch ins Leben. 1963 zog sie nach Paris. Dort machte sie Bekanntschaft mit der Musik von Jacques Brel und Gilbert Bécaud und anderen Protagonisten des französischen Chansons jener Ära.

… Soon after she was born, her parents moved to Madrid with her. From the age of 7 to 14, she was bedridden for long periods of time due to chronic kidney disease, and the corticosteroid treatment associated with her illness left permanent marks on the left side of her face. During those years she read a lot, learned the guitar and dreamed of a career as a singer. Regarded by her doctor as incurable, she nevertheless plunged herself into life. In 1963 she moved to Paris. There she became acquainted with the music of Jacques Brel and Gilbert Bécaud and other protagonists of the French chanson of that era.

Nach dem Tod ihres Vaters kehrte sie 1967 nach Spanien zurück. Dies war die Zeit der großen Protestbewegungen, und ihre oft von persönlicher Freiheit handelnden Lieder trafen im Spanien des Diktators Franco auf offene Ohren. Mit den Alben, Amores und Escúchame, konnte sie sich schließlich auf dem Musikmarkt durchsetzen und erste Hits landen.
In den 1980er Jahren verschwand Mari Trini dann  nach und nach aus dem Gesichtsfeld einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit.

… After the death of her father, she returned to Spain in 1967. This was the time of the great protest movements, and her songs, often about personal freedom, met with open ears in the Spain of dictator Franco. With the albums, Amores and Escúchame, she was finally able to establish herself on the music market and landed her first hits.
In the 1980s, Mari Trini gradually disappeared from the visual field of a wider public.

Insgesamt veröffentlichte Mari Trini 25 Alben. 2005 wurde sie vom Fachverband Sociedad General de Autores y Editores für zehn Millionen verkaufte Tonträger ausgezeichnet. Am Internationalen Frauentag im März 2008 bedachte sie die Regionalverwaltung von Murcia mit dem Premio Lucha por la Igualdad, einem Preis für den Kampf für Geschlechtergleichheit. Die Laudatio würdigte ihr musikalisches Eintreten für Frauenbelange und Emanzipation.
Nachdem ihre letzten Lebensjahre von Krankheit überschattet waren, starb sie am 6. April 2009 in einem Krankenhaus in Murcia im Alter von 61 Jahren.

— Mari Trini released a total of 25 albums. In 2005 she received an award from the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores Association for selling ten million records. On International Women’s Day in March 2008, the regional administration of Murcia awarded her the Premio Lucha por la Igualdad, a prize for the fight for gender equality. The laudation honored her musical advocacy for women’s issues and emancipation.
After the last years of her life were overshadowed by illness, she died on April 6, 2009 in a hospital in Murcia at the age of 61.
