Das erste Projekt dieser Saison ist oder war ein Traumfänger. Wie ich auf die Idee gekommen bin, weiss ich eigentlich nicht, vielleicht weil ich in letzter Zeit so viele schöne Federn gefunden habe.
… The first project of this season is, or was, a dream catcher. How I got the idea, I don’t really know. Maybe because I have found so many beautiful feathers lately.
Es folgt eine Diaserie mit der Entstehung. Für die runde Mitte und den grossen Kreis habe ich 3 mm Silberdraht genommen und mit Baumwollgarn umhäkelt.
… Below follows a slide show about the development of the project. For the circle in the middle and the large one, I used 3 mm silver wire and crocheted around with cotton yarn.
Die Grundform so eines Traumfängers besteht aus dem Kreis mit dem Spinnengewebe und der Öffnung in der Mitte sowie einer zarten Feder, die sich leicht im Wind bewegt. Ich wollte aber ein bisschen mehr Symbolik hineinbringen und zusätzlich einige der wie gesagt schönen Federn zur Schau stellen. Ich wollte eine Eule in der Mitte haben und fand eine bei Blogger Equinoxio, der mir auch den Tip gab, doch mal bei den Ojibwa zu schauen. Dort fand ich zwar keine andere Eule, aber eine Erklärung, wie der Brauch mit den Traumfängern entstanden ist. Dort konnte ich auch lesen, dass die offene Mitte dafür gedacht ist, die guten Träume durchzulassen. Also durfte ich sie ja nicht zukleistern.
… The basic shape of such a dream catcher consists of the circle with the spiderweb and the open centre, as well as a delicate feather, which moves slightly in the wind. However, I wanted to add a bit more symbolism, and, in addition, show off some of the before mentioned beautiful feathers. I wanted to have an owl in the middle and found one on blogger Equinoxio’s blog, who also gave me the tip to search under Ojibwe. There I did not find another owl, but an explanation, how the custom with the dream catchers came into being. I also learned that the open middle is meant for the good dreams to get through. So I’d better not patch it over.
… I found the owl on blogger Equinoxio’s blog in one of his streetart posts. It originates from Mexico and is a Mayan owl. the feather to the right is with 95% certainty fallen off a common buzzard, the white one on the left off a swan. I have decided that for me the owl stands for wisdom, the bird of prey for courage, and the swan for love.
Der Rest ist eine Zurschaustellung der Federn.

Falls ihr annehmt, dass das alle Federn waren, die ich hatte, täuscht ihr euch, schaut einmal hier, und nicht nur Aussenfedern, sondern auch „Unterwäsche“.
