… In our village, it is very quiet at Halloween, and in the next larger village, only one house is usually decorated and in front of the daycare they have a pumpkin. Therefore, I had to take photos of this village, through which we came today, about 6 miles from us, which this year really went the extra mile.

… At every entrance to the village they had something like this, and even at the guidepost at the main road. (haha, I am making Blenstrup famous)

… The female phantom made of wire mesh was quite convincing.

… And here the village picnic area.

*grins*
Ich will hoffen ihr seid gesund?
Viele liebe Grüße zu euch,
vom Sternchen.

In our tiny community of 200 people cats and dogs included, the custom of celebrating Halloween is alive and well. I carved two pumpkins and placed real candles inside. Alas. because of Covid-19 we had only a dozen children coming by to do the trick-or-treating.
Your neighbouring village looks festive in the bright sunshine, but I think it would look spooky after sundown.

That must have looked nice, I like the pumpkin part, although it means eating pumpkin for some time … 😉
Halloween has never really been a European custom, has it? I don’t know it from my childhood. We had Fasching in February, which was bases on the heathen habits of driving darkness out and welcoming the light. In some rural areas they went around and knocked on doors for gifts, but in Hamburg we did not do that. Children would take costumes on though, and there would be Fasching parties with costumes.
