Apfelbäumchen
Es sind drei jetzt. Der erste wurde auf einmal von einer Horde Blattläuse attackiert (wo kamen die bloss her???) und wollte mickern. Ich habe die Läuse alle ermordet und sehe jetzt jeden Tag nach, auch bei den anderen beiden. Der zweite sieht auch recht kräftig aus. Der dritte brauchte etwas länger. Es stellte sich heraus, dass er drei Keimblätter hatte, die bekam er wohl nicht auseinander sortiert. Aber jetzt ist er auch auf dem Weg.
… Apple trees
… There are three now. The first was suddenly attacked by a band of lice (where on earth did they come from???) and started to get mingy. I have murdered all the lice and now I am checking every day, also the others. The second looks nice and strong as well. The third one needed a bit longer. It happens that it has three seed leaves, and it maybe had problems to sort them out. But now it is also on its way.

Neben dem Zaunkönig habe ich jetzt auch einen Wippstert gesichtet. Auf Hochdeutsch heisst der glaube ich Bachstelze. Ich versuche auch, mehr und mehr Wasserstellen einzurichten. Demnächst kommt ein weiteres Wasserloch am Steinbeet.
… Beside the wren I have now also sighted a white wagtail. I do try to instal more and more watering places. I will add a water hole on the other side of the rockery as the next.
Wir haben dieses Jahr zwei Hummel-Clans auf dem Grundstück. Zuerst kamen die dicken gestreiften. Die sind ziemlich gross und haben einen weissen und einen gelben Streifen am unteren Ende. Ich finde die schwer zu fotografieren, denn sie setzen sich nicht richtig; die Flügel sind dauern in Bewegung und ergeben diesen Helikopterwirbel auf den Fotos. Sie wohnen hinter einer Abdeckplatte im Schuppen aka Garage.
… We have two bumble bee clans on our property this year. First to arrive where the fat striped ones. They are rather large and have a white and a yellow band on the lower end. I find them hard to photograph, as they hardly ever really settle; the wings are moving all the time and show as this helicopter swirl on the photos. They live behind a cover panel in the shed aka the garage.
Dann sah ich auf einmal die schwarzen mit dem rostroten Bürzel. Da waren auch einige sehr grosse Exemplare dabei. Ich war besorgt um die Gestreiften, ob die rostrot bebürzelten wohl eine feindliche Übernahme gemacht hatten? Ich weiss nicht wo sie wohnen (2018 wohnten sie unter einer der Terrassen, letztes Jahr waren sie gar nicht da), aber die Gestreiften sind auch noch am Leben. Sie besuchen nur verschiedene Blüten zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten.
… Then I all of a sudden only saw black ones with a rusty red rump; also some really big ones among those. I was concerned about the striped ones, had the rusty red rumped ones made a hostile takeover? I don’t know, where they live (2018 they lived under one of the terraces, last year they did not come at all), but the striped ones are alive and thriving. They just visit other flowers at different times.
Und ich dachte, dass diese hellblaue Blüte die absolut letzte der Iris war …
… And I thought that this light blue flower was the absolute last of the irises …
und dann fiel mein Auge auf diesen Nachzügler … ich werde sie wohl woanders hinsetzen müssen, denn sie wird von den Grossen etwas bedrängt. Die ganz schmalen Blätter gehören zu dieser Iris.
… when my eyes caught a glimpse of this one laggard … I am afraid I will have to plant it somewhere else, it is a bit beleaguered by the large ones. The very thin leaves belong to this iris.

… This post is still being „liked“ once or twice a week. But it did taste great, it did! 🙂
Und dann habe ich den rocket stove von der Terrasse auf den Kies umgelegt, denn ich konnte mich nicht dazu bringen, ihn auf der Holzterrasse und direkt neben der Holzumrandung in Gang zu bringen. Jetzt regnet es gerade (danke, danke), aber sobald es trocken wird, wird er ausprobiert.
… And then I have moved the rocket stove from the terrace to the gravel. I could not bring myself to light a fire in it on the wooden terrace right beside the wooden fencing. At the moment it is raining (thank you, thank you), but as soon as it is dry again, I will try it out.
Auf der Bank kann man leider nicht sitzen, die ist total durchgerostet, aber zur Zierde taugt sie noch … 😉
… It is not possible to sit on the bench, as it is completely rusted through, but it is still useful as decoration … 😉
