Lønstrup war immer eines unserer Lieblingsziele, als wir noch in der Nähe von Hjørring wohnten. Es liegt an der Nordseeküste, so ziemlich mittig zwischen Hirtshals im Norden und Løkken im Süden. Viele Künstler haben sich dort niedergelassen, Maler, Glasbläser, Porzellankünstler, Bildhauer, you name it.
… Lønstrup was always one of our favourite excursion destinations, when we were living near Hjørring. It is situated at the North Atlantic coast, with about the same distance to Hirtshals in the north as to Løkken in the south. Many artists have settled there, painters, glassblowers, porcelain artists, sculptors, you name it.
Von der Ortsmitte aus kann man direkt auf einem gewundenen Pfad in die Dünen hochklettern. Auf dem Foto stehen wir oben und schauen zurück.
… From the town centre, one can directly climb up to the dunes on a winding path. On the photo, we are standing on top of the dunes, looking back down.
Auf dem Schild steht, dass weiter links eine Treppe ist. Warum man nun unbedingt hier runterrutschen muss, ist mir schleierhaft. Es geht hier nämlich senkrecht nach unten. Da war eine ziemlich schmale Rinne, die hinunter führte, glatt wie eine Bobsleigh-Bahn. Das ist nichts für meine alternden Knochen. (Es ist auch nicht gut für die Dünen.)
… On the sign it says that further on to the left there is a staircase. Why anybody would want to slide down here, eludes me. Right here it is going down vertically. There was a rather narrow furrow leading downwards, smooth like a bobsleigh lane. That is poison for my aging bones. (It is not beneficial for the dunes either.)
Mir reichte schon die Treppe! … The staircase was challenge enough for me!

Und dann kommt man an den bekannten Platz, wo oft Boote auf dem Strand liegen (ein beliebtes Postkartenmotiv). Von dort gingen wir durch die Stadt zurück zum Auto.
… And then one reaches the well-known spot, where often boats are beached (a popular motive for postcards). From there we went back to our car through the town.

Hier das wunderschöne, kleine Kino von Lønstrup, ziemlich kürzlich neu gemalt. Zwei Vereine teilen sich dieses Gebäude. Der eine zeigt im Winterhalbjahr dort Filme, und man kann auch Getränke und die normalen Kinosnacks kaufen. Man sitzt an Tischen, sodass es recht gemütlich ist.
… Here Lønstup’s beautiful little cinema, quite recently it was given a fresh layer of paint. Two clubs share this building; one is showing movies during the winter half year – you can also buy drinks and the normal cinema snacks. People sit at tables, so it is really quite cozy.
Der zweite Verein veranstaltet gemeinsame Essen, Vorträge, Musikabende usw. während des Sommerhalbjahrs. Als wir noch bei Hjørring wohnten, waren wir öfter mal dort.
… The second club organises shared dinners, lectures, music evenings etc. during the summer half year. When we lived near Hjørring, we used to go there every now and then.
