Die andere Seite vom Birkensee … The other bank of birch lake

Trotz kräftigem Wind aus Norden machten wir uns auf den Weg, schliesslich schien die Sonne!

… In spite of strong winds from the north, we started out, the sun was shining!

Der Wanderweg, den wir letztes Mal gesehen hatten, führte tatsächlich zum Wald und direkt an den See. Das war so ein Weg ganz nach meinem Geschmack. Stellt euch den mal im Sommer vor!

… The path that we had seen last time, led us indeed to the wood and to the bank of the lake. It was a path just after my taste. Imagine what it would be like in summer!

Aber … wo waren denn all die Vogelscharen? Wenn man von der gegenüberliegenden Seite rüberschaut, sind die Vögel immer hier. Ob das an dem unangenehmen Wind lag? Als Vogel wäre ich da wohl auch am liebsten im Schilf …

… But … where were the myriads of birds? When we look from the other side, the birds are always here. Maybe the reason was the unpleasant wind. If I were a bird, I would seek shelter in the reeds myself …

Aber wir fanden interessante Spuren. Die erste muss von einem Elch sein, denn sie war um die 17 cm lang. Rothirschspuren sollen so um die 10 cm lang sein.

… But we found interesting tracks. The first one must have been a moose track, as it was about 7 inches long. Elk tracks, so I have read, are about 4 inches long.

Dann fanden wir noch eine wesentlich kleinere Spur, von der ich annehme, dass sie von einem Reh stammt, und zwar vom Hinterhuf, denn man kann die zwei kleinen Löcher ziemlich deutlich sehen.

… We found another, quite a bit smaller track, and I presume that it was left by a dear, by a hind foot, as one can clearly make out the two small round holes.

Was nicht alles zum Nordseewanderweg gehört … wir sind hier nur 3 km vom Kattegatt (Ostküste) entfernt. Die Nordsee liegt an der Westküste … 😉

… Astonishing what seems to belong to the North Atlantic hiking path … we are only 2 miles away from Kattegatt (east coast), the North Atlantic is on the west coast … 😉

Aufregenderes ist nicht passiert, aber es war ein toller Spaziergang. Und nass war’s, aber dieses Mal hatten wir ja beide angemessene Schuhe … 😉

… Nothing more exciting happed, but it was a nice walk. And it was boggy, but this time we both had suitable shoes … 😉

Ich freue mich schon auf das Frühjahr, dann gehen wir den ganzen Weg bis zur anderen Seite, zum Aussichtshaus.

… I am already looking forward to spring. We will walk the whole length of the path to the other side where the lookout spot is.
